Program – Rotary Joint Meeting/Event Tuesday

We will not have our regular Wednesday meeting this week. Instead, on Tuesday, August 15, at 11:45 – 1:00 we will have a joint club meeting and also participate in 2 community service projects. The meeting will be at Long Acres Ranch, 2335 Richmond Parkway, Richmond, TX. Lunch will cost $15 and will be catered from Pier 36 Restaurant.
 
Service Project 1: Attending Rotarians and guests will prepare sandwiches, with chips, fruit, a sweet snack and water for the kids during their Tuesday evening meeting at Nery's Promise. Her kids group continues to grow and we are expecting to prepare up to 80 sandwich bags at our event. 
 
Service Project 2: All are encouraged to bring a new pair of tennis shoes, any size, to benefit kids through Sole Loved.
 
Service Project begins about 12:25pm (about 30 minutes). Food and materials will be acquired and brought to LAR for us to assemble.
 
 
Remember no club meeting on Wednesday August 16th.

Welcome our newest club member Javier Altuve. Ask him where he is from and how many languages he speaks. Stop and say hello or grab a seat next to him. He has some interesting stories about his life and move to our area and his past Rotary experiences.
 
WE WILL NO LONGER BE USING ZOOM for online meetings. We have switched to Webex and the link is on the website. This will be effective as of now.
 
Next Generation - new member Daniel Boehm, has a goal for this year to start or restart 1 Rotaract club and 2 interact clubs. This will add to our current 1 active interact club at Clements High School. Schools have opened, call Daniel if you know anyone at a school that wants to help start an Interact for High School or Rotaract for College.
 
Membership update: Lynn Borker has resigned from the club.

West University Meal Packing Event Sept 2

West University Club is hosting a meal packing event on September 2nd @ 9am at Rise Against Hunger Houston office, 8901 Jameel, Houston, Tx 77040.
 
They still need more hands, and I know we've got plenty that are willing and able in our great Rotary District.
 
What a great way to meet or catch up with other Rotarians, and the really hard work of planning the event has already been done!
